Brian a récement rendu visite a des malades atteint du cancer dans un hopital à Chelsea afin de soutenir les victimes de la maladie et d'aider à trouver des fonds pour la recherche

'We Will Wheel You' is what Queen guitarist Brian May told patients when he became a hospital porter for the morning at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea on Wednesday 10 November.

Brian put on the regulation blue theatre scrubs to wheel patients into the hospital's operating theatres on behalf of the The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign, the hospital's £30 million fundraising appeal.

His visit reflects the Campaign's theme that 'extraordinary things happen in an ordinary day at the Royal Marsden.'

Brian said: "I am delighted to support the Royal Marsden. I'm aware that many people diagnosed with cancer will need surgery, which is why one of this appeal's projects, to fund new state-of-the-art operating theatres, is so vital.

"It's encouraging to know that the money raised by the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign will be making a real difference in the fight against cancer. I hope everyone will do their bit to help the hospital reach its £30 million fundraising target."

Fundraising Director Angela Roden said: "We are extremely grateful for Brian May's support for the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign. Cancer is a disease that touches everyone in some way, and in the UK alone, it is claiming the lives of 3,000 people every week.

"The money raised from this appeal will help us treat more cancer patients, more quickly and more effectively."

As a founding member of Queen and successful solo artist, Brian May's career spans three decades. He has penned 22 top 20 hits worldwide including 'The Show Must Go On' and 'I Want It All'. He is currently producer and musical director for the Queen musical 'We Will Rock You' at London's Dominion Theatre.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign is aiming to raise £30 million. Key projects include building Europe's largest drug development unit dedicated to testing and evaluating new drug therapies to combat cancer and creating new creating new state-of-the-art operating theatres.

The vast majority of people diagnosed with cancer need surgery - it can be a lifesaver as long as they don't have to wait too long. Currently the theatres at the Royal Marsden are being used to capacity, which is why the hospital is raising funds to build three new theatres. These will enable our top surgeons to extend their range of procedures, train new surgeons and conduct pioneering research into finding the best cancer treatments.

The Royal Marsden has just reached the £15 million halfway mark of its £30 million appeal. To help the hospital reach its final target, donations can be made by visiting www.royalmarsden.org/campaign or by calling 020 8770 0279.

• The Royal Marsden Hospital is Europe's leading cancer centre, with more than 30,000 patients being referred to its sites in Chelsea and Sutton every year
